Our Story
She was 24. A creator. Making more money than most people twice her age.
But she had almost nothing saved. No retirement account. No tax strategy. No plan.
I walked into my boss's office and asked how we could help her.
He didn't even look up.
"Just ignore her," he said. "She doesn't fit our model. She'll blow you off. She won't show up to meetings. She doesn't value what we do."
I nodded and walked out.
But I couldn't stop thinking about it. Here was someone who needed help, who was building something real, but the industry had already written her off.
I passed my CFP® exam and launched my own firm.
But I was scared.
Scared to go all-in on creators. Scared to bet on a niche the industry said wouldn't work. So I did what felt safe: financial planning for retired clients. Stable. Predictable. Boring.
Then one day, out of nowhere, she found me.
The same creator my old boss told me to ignore. She signed up. We built her plan. And when we finished, she started sending her friends.
One referral. Then another. Then another.
That's when I realized: this wasn't a niche. This was the entire point.
I sat in at a conference listening to Joe Duran, an industry legend, say something I couldn't unhear:
"It's embarrassing how little creativity exists in our industry."
He was right. And I was becoming part of the problem.
Brighter Days Planning was fine. Safe. Forgettable. Just another firm doing what every other firm does.
So I burned it down and rebuilt.
Moonshot Planning. Built specifically for creators and freelancers. The people traditional finance ignores.
My old boss said creators wouldn't show up.
They show up.
He said they wouldn't value financial advice.
They value it more than anyone I've ever worked with, because they know what it took to earn it.
He said they didn't fit the model.
He was right about that part. They don't fit his model.
So I built a different one.
Moonshot exists for the creators, freelancers, and self-employed people that the rest of the industry has overlooked. If you've ever felt like traditional financial advice wasn't built for you, you're right. It wasn't. But this is.
